SDS-Plus to Male Threaded Core Bit Adapter

Design and Construction Features

SDS-Plus Driven End Section: The rear section has the standard 10mm dia SDS Plus design, and with two open slots and one closed ball bearing groove. It allows for fast, tool-less, click-and-lock mounting of the rotary hammer chuck. In addition, it absorbs high rotational torque.

Precision Male Threads: The front end has precision manufactured external threads (usually standard M14, M16 or 5/8″ – 11 UNC). They are made to allow secure threading into diamond core drill bits, hole saws and grinding/polishing attachments.

Wrench Flats: The central transition area of the adapter has been machined with flat areas. These are designed so that standard open-end wrenches or adjustable wrenches may be used to make up-tighten or break loose the bit without damaging the shank.

Hardened Against Impact Loads: Heat treatment on the surface of the threads prevents them from being stripped, warped or fatigued by heavy loads or masonry vibrations during operation.

In order to achieve optimal bit longevity and efficiency, it is highly recommended that the rotary hammer is set to strict rotary-only mode (hammer function deactivated) when drilling with diamond core bits. High frequency impacts during drilling can cause the diamond segments to fracture, thus creating excessive stress at the threaded connection area.
